พอใครจะเริ่มเรียน IELTS/ติว IELTS Reading ขึ้นมา คำถามยอดฮิตที่ทุกคน ต้องถามคือ จะอ่าน Passage ก่อน หรือ จะอ่านคำถามก่อนเป็นอันดับแรก ซึ่งถามแต่ละคนก็คงได้คำตอบไม่เหมือน บางคนอ่าน Passage ก่อน บางคนอ่านคำถามก่อน สรุปแล้ว ควรทำอะไรก่อนดีละ วันนี้พี่ๆ KPH เลยจะมาตอบคำถามยอดฮิตนี้กัน
ก่อนอื่นเลยอยากให้น้องๆ ลอง ทำ Exercise ที่ 1 โดยที่ให้เริ่มจากการอ่านคำถามก่อน แล้วตามด้วยการอ่าน Passage แล้วกลับมาตอบคำถาม อีกครั้งนึง และตอบคำถามแต่ละข้อไม่เกิน 3 คำ เท่านั้น

Strategic Mindset I
No strategies can make bad managers good, badly-run organizations efficient, or bad products sell, but, nevertheless, there are certain considerations which comprises a strategic mindset necessary for the organizational success.
The most significant is the importance of the customer. This is, of course, almost a cliché ('the customer is always right') but many businesses do not fully realize that the core business of any organization is to deliver value to the customer, and in the end, no matter how well strategy is built around cost, competition, product grouping, internal functions, or geography, it is the customers who will determine the future of the company.
Apart from the customer, there is also the staff of the company, and the next consideration concerns the need to give authority to act to the people closest to the customer - in other words, to those who need to make decisions related to the situations they face. Unanticipated conditions always rise, calling for spontaneous and innovative behavior. Consequently, frontline staff should have some degree of practical autonomy, or as much as possible given the nature of the organization.
The last consideration also involves staff, but this time through motivation. The prime consideration is employee involvement. Nothing as complex as an organization can run without free and genuine communication and involvement, and, of course listening. It follows from all these arguments that as a strategic consideration, the company should best see itself as an organic whole, with systems in place to encourage ways of communication and involvement.

Exercise 2
Strategic Mindset II
The detailed long-range strategic plan is no longer enough since it is unlikely to make a company face unpredicted future events. A strategic 'mindset' is much better, and consists of many considerations.
One important consideration is continuous learning - in other words, creating a 'learning' organization. In the modern workplace, where competition is mostly based on product and service quality, a continuous learning culture should be an important strategic consideration. Workers can only welcome this, since job security comes not from being employable, by developing a range of professional knowledge and skills.
Another consideration is humanness in the organization. By this, I do not mean the old concept of 'human resources' but a newer concept of 'humanness'. The true nature of any organization is not that of an economic machine producing goods and services, but that of a community of humans, and this means staff should not be treated as objects working for profit, or pieces in the organizational machine, or test animals in human recourse experiments, but as human beings.
The final consideration follows logically from the previous one. This consideration is the creation of meaning. Work usually forms part of people's identity, and this needs a meaningful environment - in other words, something which can interest people. If work duties and organizational direction do not have obvious meaning and can not be related to a clear benefit to society then the workers are unlikely to commit themselves to the company goals.หลังจาก อ่าน passage แล้ว ตอบคำถาม 3 คำถามนี้ ให้ตอบได้ไม่เกิน 3 คำ ต่อหนึ่งข้อ

วิธีที่ 1 : อ่านโจทย์ก่อน -->อ่าน Passage--> กลับไปตอบคำถาม
คำตอบที่ได้จาก exercise 1 คือ An organic whole, Practical autonomy, the customers
วิธีที่ 2: อ่าน Passage --> อ่านโจทย์ --> ตอบคำถาม
คำตอบที่ได้จาก exercise 2 คือ Creation of meaning, Humanness, Being employable
คำถามสำคัญคือวิธีใดดีกวากัน
Conclusion
แต่ละคนคงจะตอบคำถามนี้ต่างกัน อย่างไรก็ตาม ตามความคิดเห็นของพี่ๆ KPH แล้ว พี่ๆ คิดว่า วิธีที่ 1 นั้นจะค่อนข้างช้ากว่า วิธีที่ 2 เพราะว่าการที่น้องเริ่มอ่านจากคำถามก่อน น้องยังไม่มี background เนื้อหาใดๆ เกี่ยวกับ passage เรื่องนั้นเลย ทำให้อ่านคำถามแล้ว ก็ยังไม่ค่อยเข้าใจว่าเค้ากำลังพูดเรื่องอะไร น้องๆ จะเข้าใจคำถามก็ต่อเมื่อได้ลองอ่าน passage แล้วจริงๆ อีกเหตุผล ก็คือ การอ่านคำถามก่อน ทำให้น้องจดจ่อแต่กับการหาคำตอบ จะอ่านแบบไม่ละเอียด ไม่คิดถึงการอ่านให้เข้าใจจริงๆ พอหาคำตอบไม่เจอ ก็ต้องวนกลับมาที่จุดเริ่มต้นใหม่ วนใหม่ไปแบบนี้ซ้ำๆ พอเจอคำตอบของข้อนึงแล้ว ทำข้อใหม่ ก็วนอ่านใหม่อยู่แบบนี้
แต่ถ้าเราใช้วิธีที่ 2 อ่าน passage ทั้งหมดก่อน เราจะเข้าใจเรื่องราวทั้งหมด มี background information เอาไว้แล้ว เข้าใจแล้วว่า หลักๆ passage เค้าพุดเรื่องอะไรอยู่ อะไรเป็นรายละเอียดประกอบ รู้ว่า paragraph 1,2,3,...กำลังพูดถึงเรื่องอะไร จดโน๊ตเอาไว้นิดหน่อย จะได้ไม่ลืม เมื่ออ่านคำถามแล้ว น้องจะรู้สึกคุ้นๆ ทันที ว่าจะไปหาคำตอบได้ที่ paragraph ไหน หรือประมาณช่วงบรรทัดไหน ทำให้ไม่เสียเวลา ไปกับการอ่านซ้ำไป ซ้ำมา
อย่างไรก็ตาม นี่เป็นเพียง คำแนะนำ จากประสบการณ์ ของพี่ๆ KPH ที่เจอมาจากน้องๆ หลายๆ คนเฉยๆ ไม่ได้บอกว่าเป็นวิธีที่ดีที่สุด บางวิธี work กับอีกคน แต่ไม่ work กับอีกคนก็มี เพราะฉะนั้น ให้น้องๆ ลองทำทั้งสองแบบ และหาวิธีที่เหมาะสมกับตัวเองที่สุดดีกว่า ส่วนใครที่เรียน IELTS/ ติว IELTS Reading ด้วยตัวเองแล้วยังไม่ work ลองมาหาพี่ๆ KPH ดู แล้วจะรู้ว่า การเรียน IELTS/ติว IELTS Reading ไม่ได้ยากอย่างที่คิด
